The Hawthorn Bar & Lakeside Restaurant is one of the few
pubs in Cork City that is run by the same family for nearly half a century. It
was built by the parent's of the present owner Patrick Coakley in 1961. Over the
years it has developed from a local pub to what it is today, one of Cork's best
known Bars and Restaurant with an unparalleled view of the Lough.
The Lough is a famous wildlife sanctuary in the heart of
the city. Just two miles from the city centre and a five minute walk from
University College Cork home of the famous Boule Library. Whatever your pleasure
a leisurely walk, studying the wildlife, fishing for specimen carp or just a
talk with the locals. No better way to finish off than with a drink in our beer
garden or a pleasant meal in the beautiful Lakeside Restaurant.
The Hawthorn also serves morning coffee, has a
delicatessen and serves a carvery menu at lunchtime seven days a week. Nearby
during the summer months you can watch or join in the twice weekly outdoor Ceili
and old time dancing. There is also entertainment in the lounge on Thursday,
Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights
